We have completed the renovation of our properties in Gaucin
and we now have a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment and a 2 bedroom upperfloor apartment available for birding holiday lets.
Both apartments have independent access from the widest street in village via a gated archway and a private courtyard. They are set in a beautiful cobbled courtyard having many exotic plants such as grape vines, lemon trees and jasmine giving a real Mediterranean ambiance. Just two or three steps lead to the lower apartment, a stone stairway leads to the upper apartment from the courtyard.
La Casita
This cottage style apartment has one double bedroom and is located on the ground floor, it is accessed from the courtyard via a covered ‘grotto’, all the rooms are on one level, there are no stairs to climb. Many original features of the apartment still exist, exposed wooden beams and very thick walls which are typical of this type of traditional home. Central to the cottage is the kitchen/lounge/dining area having fitted kitchen with gas hob, fridge, microwave oven and an open log fire. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, hand basin and toilet. The bedroom has a Moroccan style double bed on a raised platform. Immediately outside the cottage is a seating area where you can enjoy your meals and relax alfresco in the warm balmy summer evenings. There is also a barbecue area within the courtyard for your use.
El Piso Alto
Featuring all new furniture and beds this first floor apartment has a bright and airy open-plan living/dining room and kitchen area. The fitted kitchen is equipped to a high standard with gas hob, fridge and microwave oven. The lounge area has a wood burning stove and satellite TV. Double doors lead to a twin bedded room, from this bedroom French doors open onto a sun filled balcony with outdoor furniture. The compact bathroom is also found on this level featuring a brand new walk-in shower, fully tiled walls and floor, a toilet and wash basin. Stairs from the living room lead to a second twin bedded room and to two terraces that have views to die for. The terraces are ideal for sunbathing or for relaxation with a glass of wine watching the beautiful sunsets. A third terrace is accessed via a second set of stairs and offers a 360 panoramic view over the village and surrounding countryside. The Castle rises just behind you and the Genal valley stretches out in front, on a clear day you can see Gibraltar and the Rif Mountains of Morocco!
If you book a package and stay with us in Gaucin you can be sure of a first rate holiday, we cater for bird-watchers, by providing early breakfast for early birders and large evening meals to satisfy those large appetites after a full day in the field, local wine is included with dinner.

Our coastal Apartment
In complete contrast we also have accommodation in a modern 2 bedroom apartment on the Costa del Sol near Puerto de Duquesa (see photos below). This apartment offers air-conditioning, a fully fitted kitchen, lounge and a large terrace. There are three swimming pools available for your use (March - October) and wonderful beaches are 15 minutes away. Why not book a few days in the mountains with us in Gaucin and then spend a few days on the coast relaxing in the sun. Please call us for details.
Birding along the coast
Bee-eaters are regularly seen (spring and summer) along the entrance road to the apartment complex and a green belt valley lies adjacent to it. Crested Lark, Dartford, Sardinian and Melodious Warblers, along with Red-rumped Swallows are seasonal regulars whilst House Martins have already taken over this new development. A pair of Blue Rock thrushes have taken up residence nearby and Black Redstarts are very common in autumn and winter. There are many superb bird-watching sites along the coast and many species can be seen throughout the year.

Airport pick-up
Airport transfer from Malaga, Jerez or Gibraltar is included in the 7-day package price. For non-package tours we can pick you up from the airport for a small charge. From Malaga, Sevilla or Jerez we charge 60 euro each way, from Gibralta the charge is 40 euro.
