One Day Tours
Wingspan Bird Tours operates its day tours in Southern Andalucia and covers a radius of 100km from the beautiful 'Pueblo Blanco' of Gaucin, in the province of Malaga. Gaucin is situated near the famous town of Ronda and is ideally positioned for day tours of many scenic mountainous areas as well coastal regions. Grazalema Natural Park is an area of oustanding natural beauty and is within easy reach of Gaucin. We are also able to visit Gibraltar, Tarifa, La Janda and many more sites along the coast. There are many intineraries to choose from, please click on the any of the following list for a sample of a typical days' outing. If you wish to stay overnight with us (mininmum 2 nights) please refer to the accommodation details Accommodation.

All our tours require some walking but there are no long, arduous walks and each tour has many stops that will involve watching from the side of quiet roads and tracks. A relative amount of fitness is required to negotiate some of the hill walks in the sierras. The pace is relaxed with plenty of time for all the participants to see the birds. The tours are ideal for beginners and for the more accomplished bird watcher wishing to see some of Europe’s specialities for the first time.
All the day tours listed here are concentrated in the area between Malaga in the east to Coto Doñana in the west with Antequera forming the corner of a rectangular land mass encompassing mountain ranges, coastal lagoons, forest, plains, farmland, rivers, gorges and inland lakes.
The sites are easily accessible from our base though one or two sites may require a journey of between 1 to 2 hours. Some of the sites nearest to our base boast the richest diversity and number of species as anywhere in Andalucia.

The route of each daily tour will be decided on the day of the tour, the decision will be based on current weather conditions, bird movements and, of course time of year. If you have a preference or a ‘wanted list’ of species please mention it when you book your tour and we can advise you on when is the best time to come.
The site description and the species listed are for spring/summer visits March-June unless otherwise stated. Some species such as White-rumped Swift do not arrive until mid-May so if you have a target bird list please consult us as to the best time for your visit to avoid disappointment.
