Another lovely afternoon, peace and tranquillity, down by the Rio Guadiaro at Estacion De Cortes.......................

The weather was just perfect a beautiful sunny afternoon with a lovely cooing breeze, it was around 28C.

The usual suspects were in and around the water, flocks of Goldfinches, Linnets, Serins, Rock and House Sparrows performed continuous activity at the river banks. Both Grey and White Wagtails hoppedcalongbthe rocks whilst small numbers of Cirl Bunting, Greenfinch, Chaffinch and Blue Tits came to drink.

Three Grey Herons flew over as did two Booted Eagles and a flock of some 30+ Griffon Vultures circled on the thermals for most of the afternoon.

New arrivals in the area were Woodchat Shrike (3), Willow Warbler (10+) and a few Chiffchaffs. But the best bird by far was the local Kingfisher, he performed so well whilst fishing and posing on the rocks.

Towards the end of our stay a few Bee-eaters came over and a single Turtle Dove came to drink but no swifts, swallows or martins were seen.
