I joined a couple of friends and spent a morning on the 'levels' hoping to see a few of the unusual species that are spending the winter there. A Dusky Warbler was the main target but Glossy Ibis, Great Egret, Bearded Tit, Eurasian Bittern, Lesser Redpoll, Siberian Chiffchaff and Firecrest are just a few of the other targets.........
The year started with a beautiful and most colourful sunrise, it then clouded over and deteriorated until the wind and rain became unbearable at 1pm. So I gave up birding.....................
My last blog of 2015 - the end of another fascinating and bird-filled year. I ended the year with a national rarity seen in Yeovil this morning............................
My first full-day out since arriving back in Spain last Sunday, the weather was mostly cloudy with a chilly wind but it warmed up in the afternoon to reach about 16C....................................
An aberrant European Robin found recently in Chivenor, Devon by Martin Bond lacks most of its pigmentation leaving it with a white-breast...............................
Its great to back in Spain even though the weather isn't that good. Our first walk around Punta Umbria this afternoon produced very little bird wise but it was a lovely walk.................
A number of walks home from the centre of my local town takes me through some lovely countryside and a park which supports an impressive variety of birds...............................
