WALKING FROM THE HOUSE ALONG LOCAL PATHWAYS

Since we arrived home from the US 9 days ago we have had some beautiful sunny days mixed in with some dull, wet, misty ones. Dawn and I have taken full advantage of the sunny days by taking morning walks along the rivers and streams near our flat.

A cold and frosty morning - the start of our walk

There are about 50 species of birds that you are likely to see in a short 1-2 hour walk, I see over 30 of them most days which is really pleasing and quite impressive for a small area, our usual walk is a circular one, a two mile stretch.

Winter Thrushes have arrived in numbers, I saw plenty of Redwings feeding on berries and flocks of Fieldfares have been flying over. On Monday we saw Fieldfare, Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush and Blackbird - 5 thrushes. Also Green and Great-spotted Woodpeckers, but no Siskins or Lesser Redpolls yet!

nice to see a Red Admiral on the wing in November

Here is the Stoford Walk list that I shall keep updating throughout November.
