Bulgaria is a beautiful, verdant country, with picturesque landscapes, a great variety of habitats with vast, untouched areas providing a haven for wildlife. This tour took in both the eastern and western Rhodope Mountains travelling from Sofia to the Black Sea Coast. We then travelled northward to Bourgas and onto Varna, our most northerly destination was the superb reserve at Durankulak near the border with Romania. We saw just over 200 species of birds, many butterflies as well as several interesting mammals...........
