This was the second of two back-to-back tours of Bulgaria with a much smaller group than the
first trip. We had a wide range of weather conditions, changing from bright sunny days, to windy
cloudy days and we had a day with tremendous thunders storms and hail stone downpours.
Despite this it was an excellent all round trip, with a nice group having a diverse interest in all
wildlife. We saw 189 species of birds and just short of 50 species of butterflies, there were also a
nice selection of mammals and wild flowers in a country abundant with beautiful scenery, superb
habitats and nice sunshine most of the time.
Birding highlights included the Wallcreeper at Trigrad, the Rosy Starlings at Cape Kaliakra and
sheer number of birds at Burgas. We also enjoyed the Imperial Eagle, Golden Eagle, Pygmy
Cormorants and the huge number of White Storks seen on migration.
A very exciting tour led by Iordan Hristov, aka Dancho. The group recorded a record number of species including over 100 species on GLOBAL BIRD DAY, A Saker Falcon was first for a Wingspan Tour in this area and a mixed flock of nea...
