We had a wet and windy week in Weymouth, rain and high winds spoilt some of our days, but we went home happy with many excellent sightings and some memorable experiences. We saw one or two rare species and a few uncommon migrants as well as over 100 regular species expected at this time of the year. Highlights included a superb couple of visits to Lodmoor when we saw Grey Phalarope, White-rumped Sandpiper and Jack Snipe, a visit to a secluded little sycamore copse on Portland where we saw Red-breasted Flycatcher and we stopped off at Longham Lakes near Bournemouth to see an American Black Tern, sightings of a couple of Greater Scaup was a bonus there.
