The weather played a big part of our sightings today it was dull and overcast with a couple of bright spells, it was cold too. So numbers were down but we managed to see some nice migrants ranging from Eagles to Flycatchers..........

For the last couple of days Beth and Barbara have been with us and today four more clients joined us to form the group for this eight-day tour of Andalucia looking for migrating birds and resident breeding species.........

Jimmy's flight was not until late in the day so we had a morning left in which to go birding. The weather was beautiful as usual as we set off down the hill to the Rio Genal. We had heard from Penny and Paul our local birding friends that Common Nightingales had arrived back on their breeding grounds so we went to look for them............

A beautiful sunny day was spent on Gibraltar, we saw many raptors drift over in small groups, a flock of 52 BEE-EATERS was nice to see.........

Another superb sunny day with a full day's programme and some exciting venues...........new migrants seen today included Woodchat Shrikes, Common Redstarts, Hoopoes, Collared Pratincoles, Black-eared Wheater, Northern Wheatear, Whinchat and BEE-EATERS

A lovely Spanish spring day, with a top temperature of 25C, no wind and a clear sky, just lovely! We saw a good number of species including more firsts' for the year.......Montagu's Harrier, Tree Pipit & Collared Pratincole to name but a few...........

The range in temperatures today was unbelievable, we set off at 8am with 4C registered on the car temp. gauge and at 3pm at the coast we recorded 27C........insane, I had to take off my jacket! Despite this cold weather, with North-Easterly winds, migrating birds still trickle across from Africa. We recorded our first PURPLE HERON, LITTLE BITTERN and BLACK-EARED WHEATEAR of the year.........
